Daniel Clark Davis Biography

History of Indiana County, Penn'a by J.A. Caldwell, 1880

Daniel C. Davis was born on the farm now occupied by his son, T. M. Davis, South Mahoning township, in 1827, and was a son of Abram Davis, a native of Wales, and Lydia Thompson. The former was the son of Daniel and Mary Davis nee Jones, both natives of Wales.

Their children were:

Daniel Davis settled on the McClanahan tract, in what is now East Mahoning township, about 1800.

Abram Davis' children were:
James J., d., m. to Sarah Jones;
Mary Ann, m. to James Hayes, d.;
Lena, m. to Jacob Luckart, d.;
William T., m. to Elizabeth Ansley;
Rebecca, m. to Rev. A. Neff;
Jane, d., m. to Joseph Marshall;
Daniel C., m. to Eliza J. McKee;
Agnes, d., m. to J. J. Neff; and
George Miles, d., m. to Emeline McGaughey.

D. C. was first lieutenant in company A, 2d battalion Pa. six months' volunteers. He served as portmaster of Davis for three years.

His children were:
Thompson McKee, m. to Floretta Ansley;
Sebina E., d.;
James M.;
Thomas J.;
Nancy, d.;
Clark and
Ida M.

Mrs. Eliza J. Davis, wife of D. C. Davis, was a daughter of Thompson McKee, who was a son of Hugh and Jane McKee nee Thompson. The former died in 1821, at the age of sixty. He was among the first settlers, locating in 1815, near the present site of Perryville, Jefferson county. His interment was the first burial in the Punxsutawney cemetery.

His children were:

Thomas, d., m. to Margaret Henderson, d.;

Nancy, d., m. to Thomas Saddler

Thompson's children were:
Eliza Jane, m. to Daniel C. Davis,
Nancy, d., and
Sarah, d.

The James McKee bio on p. 524 might be James s/o Hugh and Jane McKee.
