George SMITH

I'm not certain I've connected Betsy to the right George. There is a brother in law Sidney, but I don't yet know of a nephew Sidney.

G. LEDGE PIONEER, 80, IS STRICKEN SUDDENLY

Special to The State Journal

GRAND LEDGE, Dec. 29. - Mrs Betsy Smith, 80, a pioneer resident of this section, died suddenly Friday afternoon at her home, 306 E. Jefferson avenue. She had been apparently in good health, but collapsed and died within a short time. Her nephew, Sydney Smith, was with her at the time of her death.

Mrs. Smith had spent the greater part of her life in and around Grand Ledge. After her marriage to George Smith they settled on a farm outside this town, and about 30 years ago moved into Grand Ledge, where a residence was built. Mrs. Smith has been nearly blind for some years, but through an operation regained her sight a year ago.

Funeral arrangements will be delayed pending word from a brother in Canada.
