Hobson attended public school in Rockspring and after his mother passed away in 1916, he attended business' school in San Antonio, Texas. In 1918 he volunteered active service with the U.S. Cavalry, World War 1. He served 90 days and was honorably discharged.

December 17, 1921, Hobson was initiated into the Rocksprings Masonic Lodge No. 758, He passed his Fellow; Craft Mason on January 21, 1922, and was raised to Master Mason on May 20, 1922. In 1972, Hobson received his fifty-Year pen at a special ceremony given by the Rocksprings Lodge No. 758.

Hobson was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and served as an Elder for many years.

Hobson and Inez lived on the ranch northwest of Rocksprings until 1972 when they built a home in Rocksprings. While living on the ranch, both Hobson and Inez worked constantly to improve their home, pens, barns, and land. Inez still owns the ranch [1983], but lives in Rocksprings. Hobson retained and registered the Cloudt brand 'heart with a 2 to the right'.

Living married Richmond Hobson CLOUDT,116 son of De Frank CLOUDT Sr and Lena Caroline BROCKMANN. Richmond was born on 30 Mar 1898 in Copperas Creek, Kimble, TX 116 and died on 30 Dec 1975 in Rocksprings, Edwards, TX 116 at age 77.
