Raymond Webster CLOUDT Sr

From 1937 to 1942, Raymond W. Cloudt ranched on the Smart Ranch in Rocksprings. He then entered the Air Force during World War II and received his basic training in San Antonio. After basic he was stationed in Altus, Oklahoma, where he served until his discharge in 1945. Mr. Cloudt returned to ranching in Bell County from 1945 to 1949 at which time the U.S. Government bought his land to establish the Fort Hood Army Base. From 1949 to 1955 Mr. Cloudt worked in construction in Killeen, Port Lavaca, and Rockdale. In 1956, Raymond became the Chief of Construction for the U.S. Corps of Engineers in Killeen. He held that position until 1961 at which time he became disabled and retired. Mr. Cloudt lived in Belton until his death on November 29, 1972. 116 133 234
