General Notes for Child Rudolph Fredrick BINDEWALD Sr
Shifting Sands of Calhoun County:
Rudolph was from Engebrod Hesse and a member of the Fisher-Miller colony. He married Catherine Dierlam, also a member of the Colony. He bought land in the Seadrift area, where his only son, Rudolph, was born on March 7, 1851.
Though deaths and estate divisions have decimated the original ranch, the old homestead is the residence and property of Milton Bertlow Bindewald in Seadrift. Children of George, William and Lula Bindewald have portions of Rudolph's property and some still reside in the area.
Rudolph Fredrick Bindewald's immigration contract with the Republic of Texas and Varin ( Society for Protection of Immigrants to Texas) was found in its original copy in the General Land Office Archives, Austin, Texas. Also found was a certificate for 640 acres of land to Rudolph Bindewald as a certified member of the Fisher-Miller Colony and that he was introduced into Texas before the first day of Sept.1846, by the German Immigration Company.
Brownson Malsch's book, Indianola - Mother Of Western Texas, states that Rudolph Bindewald was elected Justice of the Peace in 1846 for Precinct # 2 ( Indianola), but failed to qualify because he joined the Mexican War as First Lieutenant in August Buchel's Company of volunteers to the Mexican War. by George E. ( Bob ) Bindewald.
Original owner and builder of the Bindewald Ranch, which is still in existence in 2002. 6,34,35,40
