Ralph worked for Lockheed Corporation in Fort Worth, TX. However due to a degenerative eye disease, he was laid off. He moved th efamily back to Hobbs, NM and went to work for Gibsons Department Store. A series of medical problems continued to plague him and as a result, he couldn't hold down a job. Around 1980, he was a victim of a gunshot wound and he lost the use of his legs. He died from cancer just a few years later. ⁶
