Higley, p. 63: The Strong family was originally located in Shropshire.One of the family married an heiress of Griffeth of the County ofCaernarvon, Wales, in 1561. In 1596 he removed to Taunton, Somersetshire,England, where he died in 1613, leaving a son, John, then eight years ofage, and a daughter, Eleanor.

Deacon John Moore, Rev John Wareham, Elder John Strong, John Drake Sr andfamily, were part of the large body of Puritans who emigrated to theColony with John Winthrop in 1630. Probably on ship "Mary and John" thatsailed from Plymouth on March 20, 1630. However, all alleged passengerlists of "Mary and John" are deemed suspect these days.
