Lewis Perkins, son of Rees and Elizabeth Colson was born 1763 in Prince Frederick Parish SC and was baptised there. (Parish Register P 44).
He migrated down the Mississippi River to Feliciana Parish, LA. He brought a large company of migrants with him-- the Duns, Scotts and many others.
He died in Amite Co, MS on Aug. 6 1838. He married first, Janet Scott and had four children: Sarah Perkins Tolbert, James Perkins, M.D., and Janet Perkins Jenkins and Lewis Perkiins. He married second, Martha Gayden and had four children: Nancy Perkins Green, Eliza Perkins Turnipseed, Dalcho Perkins (son) and Monroe Perkins.
